Dear Colleagues
On behalf of the ISFG Board we would like to invite you to attend the 21st. International Congress of the International Society for Forensic Genetics. The organising committee anticipates an exciting and fruitful scientific meeting where new areas of forensic genetics as well as new theoretical and technological advances in the field will be addressed.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to visit at least one other of the beautiful islands of the Azores archipelago, almost midway between Europe and North America. Although some dispute remains as to when human beings first came to the islands, Portuguese first settled there in the early 15th century. We hope that opportunities to see secondary volcanic activity, watch the whales, and enjoy a unique landscape, will tempt you to take a well deserved break, in addiction to attending what promises to an stimulating scientific meeting. We look forward to welcome you there.

The nine Azorean islands have a total surface area of 2,333 km 2 and are located right in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, between Europe and North America, at latitudes between 39° 43' and 36° 55' N. Ponta Delgada (capital of the Azorean archipelago) can be reached by plane directly from Lisbon, Madeira and Porto as well as from other European and American airports.Daily flights connect it to the other islands, including Terceira, wich also has an international airport. Ponta Delgada airport is very near the town and taxi fares are quite cheap. |
