As a Cancer Researcher, my primary focus is Tumor Immunology.
Currently, I am a Junior Researcher under the supervision of Prof. Salomé Pinho, working at the forefront of colorectal cancer research. My work focuses on understanding how glycans contribute to malignant cell immune evasion and uncovering novel immunotherapeutic strategies that harness innate-like immune responses.
During my PhD (Biomedicine, FMUP) at the Intercellular Communication and Cancer Group (i3S, Porto), under the supervision of Dr. Nuno Rodrigues dos Santos, I identified PSGL-1 as a driver of T-cell lymphoma progression and dissemination. Antibody targeting PSGL-1 resulted in lymphoma cell death, enhanced T-cell activation, increased immune infiltrates, and synergized with CAR T-cell therapy. These findings led to three publications, including a high-impact study in Leukemia (2024).
I hold an MSc in Oncology (ICBAS-UP) and a BSc in Biomedical Sciences (UBI), with previous experience in translational research on inflammation and metastasis markers in lung cancer, as well as cytogenetics during my internship at CHTMAD.
