Rafaela Abrantes holds a Bachelor's (2017) and Master's (2019) Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto (ICBAS/FCUP).
Early in her academic career, Rafaela gained international research experience at the Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology at the University Hospital of Aarhus, Denmark, through the ERASMUS program, contributing to high-impact publications in renowned journals.
In 2019, she joined the Glycobiology in Cancer research group at i3S, University of Porto, where her work focused on the role of aberrant glycosylation in cancer.
Rafaela is currently in the final stages of her PhD in Biomedical Sciences, funded by FCT. As part of her PhD project, Rafaela joined the Department of Cellular Therapy at Oslo University Hospital, Norway, further improving her expertise in CAR T cell formulation.
